1.5° pixel worlds

fueled fossils

Context: April. 2026. These days I feel fueled by anger: how did it happen that in our society, having fossil fuels is reason enough to threaten and endanger so many lives? Fighting over choke points, another wave of attacks: reading the news makes me nauseous. It seems not only the fuels are fossil, but also the minds that brawl over them.

This photoscape is the attempt to find beauty and hope in the fossils and the fuels. Hidden gems in millennia-old stone. shelter. solar-powered, obviously.

matters of perspective

Context: I created this photoscape after a day full of screens and displays, numbers and figures, reports and frustrations. against all odds to still keep going, it seemed. But then I remembered a good friends profile description:

„Imagine, it’s possible, but nobody gets it.

at least the weeds in my parents‘ garden are stubborn enough.

so maybe it’s not all lost yet.

Slow Burn 1.5°

An artistic collage featuring a lit candle flame, a snail, and overlapping natural elements like leaves and a textured surface.

Context: This fotoscape is composed from pictures I took in different climatic contexts: The snail visiting a friend’s garden in France meets the desert flower I crossed paths with in South Africa. The human fingers holding the matchstick could provide light in darkness, but they also hold the power to burn everything to ashes. The snail might be to slow to escape – or maybe it’s exactly her slowing down that makes her survive?

Wontbeliveables 1.5°

Context: This photoscape is composed from pictures I took in St. Nazaire (France) in June 2025. Looking at the ocean, I wondered how much of this coastal land I was standing on will still be liveable in the future. Will all of this will be a future underwater world? I was staying with a close friend, sharing fears and angers, but also hopes and possible steps of action. Is it a glass half full or half empty? Are we adding to the flooding or pouring each other a glass of fresh water to stay hydrated and alive? It’s easy to get desperate alone. We chose not to.
