Context: This tale is about being inbetween – and sailing beyond the limits of the imaginable.

Once upon a time
there was a world.
Pushing its limits,
but nonetheless it was
pretty limited.
Slapdash full steam ahead
or gold-rushed fever crush?
‘But not for you, miss.
Take the no.’
unmisstakable confined
in their convictions.
Fine.
proudly I become
convict of vivid daydreaming.
‘cause my horizon
is broader than this.
Beyond imagination.
Boundless.
Out of the comfort zone
and still within the bounds of the possible.
Actually not impossible.
No new world.
no private privateering.
no men with beards.
Believe me.
But do they believe in me?
I can be a piratess,
resisting against the crown.
classy and still
I keep my hair on.
Once upon a time
there was a world.
Incomprehensibly
uncomprehending.
Spare me.
neither fish nor fowl
are you.
but to be somewhere in between
is not an option.
‘Make up your mind
please’
At the same time
you are either-or
for them.
neither suits you.
Suits fit you,
dressed-up are you nevertheless.
You stay norm-conform.
Not entirely speechless,
but your tongue is tied.
Seamless on the surface.
to walk despite fins works.
But it simply hurts.
Why at all decide ?
Weightless skin,
deep dive preferably.
And you’d also like to have
your voice back,
thanks.
Waves break on the rock
where you are just for yourself.
Undisturbed you find it again.
The wind turns,
carries your songs
to me.
Unheard of,
your voice is no longer cracked
or never has been.
it just needed different tunes.
airs flow.
tears might as well.
Who knows?
Time breakers come and go.
no more self-limiting
or bounded visions,
but sea beyond current tides.
no more neither-nor.
No body above all.
No longer alone
we almost believe in fairy tales,
at least in momentarily magic.
or never again
other than that.
In our now we live
already a bit of
future happiness.
