This is what happens when I roam around with my camera and close one eye every once in a while. Attempts to make sense of the worlds in which I am currently living by puzzling them together in new ways.

Context: Another walk through Ghent’s cityscape. When I took this shot, I was lost in a corner of the city that felt quite hostile at first sight. My mind was a little lost and hostile, too, puzzled by the scattered impression I have from the world right now. Why is it so hard to create solutions that do not become a problem somewhere else? How can we create firm societal contours without taking away spaces for re/creation, flexibility and freedom?
Art.
is not THE answer , I know.
But at least this unedited no-filter photography I took reminded me that complexity can be beautiful. And that solutions might grow where you least expect them.

Mind the gap

Context: I grew up without car and still neither regularly use nor own one. This makes trains a very homey means of transport for me. Yet, everytime I am about to enter one, I am gently reminded that I am a second-class person. A sweet reminder that there are first-class people existing in a space that I am only allowed to enter with more money in my pockets. My heels won’t be able to cross this line – please mind the gap.
